1. Preamble & Core Mission Alignment
This Code of Ethics establishes a framework of mutual trust, confidentiality, and professional support for all participating member organizations (hereafter “Members”) under the governance of The Archangel Initiative. Our shared mission is to maximize the speed, efficacy, and reach of natural disaster relief efforts and veteran support systems through radical collaboration, transparent communication, and shared resources. By participating, each Member explicitly agrees that the collective mission of serving vulnerable populations and honoring those who served supersedes organizational ego and territorial competition.
2. Foundational Ground Rules of Collaboration
- Governance by The Archangel Initiative: Members recognize The Archangel Initiative as the central coordinating body responsible for mediating disputes, managing collective network resources, and ensuring strict compliance with this Code.
- Mutual Respect for Mission Autonomy: While working collectively under the umbrella of The Archangel Initiative, Members must fully respect the unique operational strengths, distinct brand identities, and specific legal charters of fellow network organizations.
- Proportional Resource Sharing: During a declared natural disaster or coordinated veteran outreach initiative, Members agree to share logistical data, volunteer databases (where legally permissible), and supply chain access to eliminate operational bottlenecks and maximize field efficiency.
- Ethical Fundraising & Joint Appeals: When fundraising as a collective network, all promotional materials must clearly state how donations will be split or utilized. No Member shall use a localized disaster response or a veteran’s personal story to raise funds exclusively for themselves if the relief effort was handled or facilitated jointly.
3. Non-Disclosure & Data Security Guidelines
Because disaster response logistics and veteran services routinely involve sensitive personal data, operational strategies, and proprietary infrastructure, strict confidentiality is an absolute operational requirement.
- Scope of Confidences: “Confidential Information” includes, but is not limited to: Veteran medical records, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), proprietary disaster-mapping software, unreleased donor databases, grant proposal drafts, and internal financial metrics shared during network proceedings.
- The “Need to Know” Standard: Members shall strictly restrict access to shared network data exclusively to staff, executives, and board members who directly require it to execute the immediate joint mission.
- Data Protection & Compliance: All information tracking veterans or disaster victims must comply with HIPAA (if medical data is handled) and applicable data privacy laws. No Member may export, scrape, or absorb another organization’s donor or beneficiary lists into their own permanent CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
- Surviving Obligations: The duty to maintain strict confidentiality remains in full effect indefinitely, even if a Member voluntarily leaves or is formally removed from the network by The Archangel Initiative.
4. Non-Compete & Ethical Boundaries
To foster true operational collaboration, Members must eliminate the fear of “poaching” resources, donors, or personnel while operating within the same geographic areas or thematic fields.
- Donor & Grant Integrity (Non-Poaching of Funding): Members shall not knowingly target or solicit major individual donors or corporate sponsors whose explicit contact details were obtained solely through collaboration within the network. If two or more Members discover they are applying for the exact same localized grant, they are strongly encouraged to submit a joint partnership proposal through The Archangel Initiative. If they choose to apply separately, they must not use proprietary insights gained from network meetings to undermine the competing bid.
- Personnel & Volunteer Protection: Members agree not to actively recruit, solicit, or poach executive staff, key program directors, or core volunteers from other Member organizations. Unsolicited applications from individuals acting on their own accord are permissible, but transparent executive-level communication is strongly encouraged.
- Geographic & Operational Deconfliction: During active natural disaster responses, Members must coordinate via The Archangel Initiative’s command structure to prevent the duplication of services. If Organization A is actively deploying mobile supply units in a specific sector, Organization B shall pivot its resources to unserved sectors rather than competing for local media attention or physical footprint.
5. Conflict Resolution & Enforcement
- Good Faith Negotiation: If a dispute arises regarding a breach of non-disclosure, territorial overlap, or fundraising ethics, the executive directors of the involved organizations must first attempt to resolve the issue privately and in good faith.
- The Archangel Initiative Mediation: If private resolution fails, the matter shall be formally brought before the governing board of The Archangel Initiative. The board will review the provided evidence, consult neutral parties if necessary, and act as the final arbiter.
- Sanctions and Disassociation: Severe or repeated violations of this Code—specifically intentional breaches of confidentiality, data theft, or predatory fundraising practices—will result in immediate review. The Archangel Initiative reserves the absolute right to suspend or permanently expel any Member organization from the network.
Adoption and Acknowledgment
By signing below, the authorized representative affirms that their organization's Board of Directors has reviewed, accepted, and legally bound the entity to this Collaborative Network Code of Ethics under the governance of The Archangel Initiative.
